Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata) trees are unique to Western Australia, and grow mainly in the south west corner of the continent. The timber is very hard and dense, and comes in a beautiful deep red or pinky-red color. It is extremely stable and versatile. Because of its beauty it is highly prized for furniture and craft, while its strength and durability make it suitable for all types of construction work. Jarrah is renown for its burls, which are more tightly formed than the red gum burls. The grain can sometimes be so tight that it looks as though fingers or veins are running through the wood. The effect is quite spectacular.
